Pues a mi me entusiasma Marillion, es una banda que siempre oscilo entre el progresivo clasico, a lo Genesis, en sus primeros maravillosos discos con el inmenso Fish a el manejo de estructuras que, sin alejarse del todo del progresivo, oscilaban en terrenos del Brit Pop al Trip Hop de Massive Attack (incluso han compartido escenarios, han grabado colaboraciones e incluso han grabado juntos un cover de Radiohead; Fake Plastic Trees). Es que la voz de Steve Hogarth es bastante mas maleable que la de Fish, que mas alla de la innegable pasion que pone en cada canción, pues es un cantante que compensa sus limitaciones tecnicas (innegables) y vocales (desafina como bueno) con una impresionante calidad como compositor y con un dominio de escena que sólo me parece comparable dentro del género al de Peter Gabriel o de Jon Anderson.

Pues de un tiempo a esta parte a los buenos de Marillion les ha dado por experimentar con el Trip Hop, en sus ultimos dos discos se escuchan coqueteos descarados con el sonido Massive Attack en Anoraknophobia (2001) uno se encuentra con “This the 21century” una pesadilla expresionista de casi 10 minutos y con la casi totalidad del ultimo disco Marbles (2004) un doble cd que es una muestra de lo que puede ser un encuentro entre el progresivo mas clasico y el sonido Massive Attack totalmente recomendable
